Copy the SPELL.ini file to the QuickBooks 2013 directory.
Cause:
The SpellChecker has lost the path to the configuration file.
Detailed Instructions
Option 1 – use a previous installation of QuickBooks or Reckon Accounts Business
1. Close Accounts Business
2. In Windows Explorer, go to:
a. Windows 8, 7 & Vista: C:\ProgramData\Intuit\QuickBooks 2012-13**;
b. Windows XP: C:\Documents & Settings\All Users\ Application Data\ Intuit\QuickBooks 2012-13;
3. Copy the file SPELL.INI;
4. Go to:
a. Windows 8, 7 & Vista: C:\ProgramData\Intuit\QuickBooks 2013**;
b. Windows XP: C:\Documents & Settings\All Users\ Application Data\ Intuit\QuickBooks 2013;
If this folder does not exist, create it;
5. Paste SPELL.INI to this folder.
6. Launch Accounts Business and test Spellchecker.
Option 2 – download the SPELL.ini file
1. Close Accounts Business
2. In Windows Explorer check for:
a. Windows 8, 7 & Vista: C:\ProgramData\Intuit\QuickBooks 2013**;
b. Windows XP: C:\Documents & Settings\All Users\ Application Data\ Intuit\QuickBooks 2013;
If this folder does not exist, create it;
3. Click on this link to download the SPELL.ini file:

4. Click on Save, browse to and save in:
a. Windows 8, 7 & Vista: C:\ProgramData\Intuit\QuickBooks 2013**;
b. Windows XP: C:\Documents & Settings\All Users\ Application Data\ Intuit\QuickBooks 2013;
5. In Windows Explorer, browse to the QuickBooks 2013 folder:
a. Right-click SPELL.ini and select Extract Here;
b. SPELL.INI should appear in the directory.
6. Launch Accounts Business and test Spellchecker.
** Additional Information
By default Windows hides the ProgramData folder. To show it again:
1. In Windows Explorer, click on Organize in the top left of the screen;
2. 2. Select Folder and Search Options;
3. Select the View tab;
4. In the Advanced Settings box, under Hidden files and folders, click on Show hidden files, folders and drives;
5. Click on Apply and OK.
You should now be able to see ProgramData under C: drive
