Cannot see the Finish button on the Activation Window
ID: 1929 Category: Accounts - Business Range - Desktop & Hosted (previously QuickBooks) Status: Resolved Views: 4176

Question:

Why when trying to activate Accounts Business (previously QuickBooks), I can't see the Finish button on the Activation Window.

Solution:

The Finish Button may not appear on the Activation Window for a number of reasons:

  • Internet Explorer v10 compatibility;
  • some DLLs not being registered on the computer;
  • active content is being blocked by the ActWzd file, Internet Explorer or Security Software;
  • Internet Explorer version 7.0 and earlier.

Detailed Instructions

Solution 1:  for Internet Explorer v10 and later

1.    Open Internet Explorer > Compatibility View Settings;

2.    In Add this website, enter reckon.com.au/* and click Add;

3.    Also add the following websites:

a.    reckononline.com.au/*

b.    quicken.com.au/*

4.    Click Close.

5.    Tools > Internet Options > Security;

6.    Click on Internet icon;

7.    In Security level for this zone, untick the box Enable Protected Mode (requires restarting Internet Explorer);

8.    Restart Internet Explorer;

9.    Launch Accounts Business, open a company file and Activate.

Solution 2: Register the key DLLs.

· Click on the Windows Start Button and select Run.

· Type the following commands one by one clicking OK after each command:

o REGSVR32 MSHTMLED.DLL

o REGSVR32 JSCRIPT.DLL

o REGSVR32 /i MSHTML.DLL

You will now be able to see the Finish Button on the Activation Window.

Solution 3: for Windows 7 Users

  1. Open the ActWzd.html file found at C:\Users\Public\Documents\Intuit\Shared
  2. This file will open in Internet Explorer with a yellow message bar at the top of the page saying:

"To help protect your security, Internet Explorer has restricted this file from showing active content that could access your computer. Click here for options..."

Click on this bar and select the option "Allow Blocked Content..."
Close this window. You will now see the Finish button on the Activation screen.

Solution 4: For Windows XP Service Pack 2 and 3 users

3. Open the ActWzd.html file found in:

a. QuickBooks 2008/09 and later: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Documents\Intuit\Shared

b. QuickBooks 2007/08 and earlier: the folder \Components\Services of the Quickbooks installation folder;

The default location is C:\Program Files\Intuit\QuickBooks 20xx-xx\Components\Services\ActWzd.html

Where 20xx-xx relates to your version of QuickBooks; eg. 2007-08.

Solution 5: for McAfee Antivirus users

Uninstall McAfee anti-virus and test with another anti-virus application

Solution 6: if you are using Internet Explorer 7.0 or earlier

Upgrade to Internet Explorer 8.0.

Solution 7: if you are using Internet Explorer 9.0

If there is no version number showing in ‘About Internet Explorer’, rollback to Internet Explorer 8.0. For instruction on how to uninstall Internet Explorer 9, please visit http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/how-do-i-install-or-uninstall-internet-explorer-9.

If you still have problems, then continue with the following until resolved.

  1. Allow active content

    1. Open Internet Explorer and select Tools > Internet Options > Advanced tab;
    2. Scroll down to the Security section and tick the box: “Allow active content to run in files on My Computer”;
    3. Click on Apply and OK to close the box then quit Internet Explorer;
    4. Launch QuickBooks and Activate – you will now have access to the Finish button;
    5. When Activation is completed successfully, reverse step 2 and remove the tick to “Allow active content to run in files on My Computer”.

2. Create a new Administrator User account and try again with the new account.

3. Clean uninstall QuickBooks, remove QuickBooks Registry entries and reinstall in Selective Startup mode. Click here for KB331 for instructions to clean uninstall and reinstall QuickBooks; click here for KB412 for directions to delete QuickBooks Registry keys.

Care: if you are not familiar with working in the Registry please see your IT professional. Changes to the Registry may negatively impact on the operation of your PC.
